Those eyes staring at me… (Part — 2)

A few years later….

I had a pair of eyes looking, staring at me again after fifteen years. It was a breathtaking experience and still is very fresh in my mind like my father’s incident. Let me introduce you to the same -

It suddenly started raining in the month of November. I was all dressed up in a neon pink salwar suit with my hair half tied in a stone-studded hair clutch, my lips wearing a bold color lipstick, and my eyes with my favorite black kajal.

I messaged him, what’s the status there? He messaged back saying it was all a mess and that everyone has taken shelter wherever they could because of these heavy unexpected rains. I asked him, what should I do? He messaged back from a car which was full of all our colleagues, “try to come if you can, our boss will feel good”. So finally I decided to leave along with one of my colleagues for our boss’s son’s wedding reception from one end of the town to another end in that heavy rain, where the unexpected was about to happen.

On the way, the roads were filled with traffic, potholes flooded with water, and it was havoc. I couldn’t understand why was I feeling all sweaty and nervous and something different in my stomach. Was it because of the suffocation in the car, or was I hungry, or was it because of the excitement of the unknown which was coming closer and closer.

Finally, we reached our destination after more than 90 mins of difficult & kind of exciting travel. He was messaging the whole time to take the status of my whereabouts on the road. So as soon as I reached the main gate, I messaged him that I had arrived. A big smile came on my face, which I was not able to control and my colleague noticed it. I waved my hand and said, come-on we reached finally so I am happy. Ignoring the response from him, I walked ahead and saw a few familiar faces and started greeting them while my eyes searched for the one I was hoping to meet.

Standing in a long queue, finally, I saw him across the glass. There he was in his golden blazer with a pale yellow shirt and a printed tie, his brown belt, and shiny brown shoes were perfectly matching, and his tallness was difficult for my eyes to capture in a go. His clean shaved face with smooth flawless skin was emitting golden shiny rays which were attracting the people around. He had a very positive happy aura around him which was kind of making him irresistible for me to ignore. My eyes were absorbing the view of a tall, handsome man who was standing across the glass with his hands in his trouser pockets and he was smiling and greeting everyone who was passing by.

I saw his eyes wandering in the huge gathering and looking for someone or something specific. I messaged saying, look across the glass, the one you are searching for is standing right in front of you. He got startled as soon as he read the message and immediately saw up and across the glass. There; our visions collided and it was a pause for both of us which felt like a few minutes but it lasted for a few seconds in reality. Our pause was broken with a cute wink from him with his golden-brown eyes, looking at me, I can’t forget that Golden Boy till date. That look was the 2nd best in my life, off-course, the first was my Father’s.

I could feel my heart racing inside me after that wink. I crossed the people between us and finally shook hands with him. We didn’t utter a single word but our eyes spoke a lot. We didn’t get a chance to talk that night. The next day we discussed what we both felt and what we would do about it. We started interacting about work, family, hobbies, likes & dislikes, ambition, movies, etc, and got to know each other very closely. We could talk for hours if we sit on discussing any social topics as well.

Eventually, he became my best friend. He can read my eyes and we can communicate without literally speaking. We used to roam around in the city, trying new cuisines and doing fun stuff. We even cooked food together. We loved to shop the reason can be either there is any occasion in our lives, or buy something if the other person needs it and would like it, or we are stressed due to office work, or to impress our new CFO who was joining the team.

One of the greatest lessons of my life was taught by him. He said, “dear, you will have to forgive people who have hurt you in life to forget them, and then only you will be able to get rid of the pain associated with it”. And this was the milestone of my life. I have become a whole new person after I met him.

I will always be in debt for all the things he did for me. People even thought that we are a couple and why don’t get married, but we knew that we are happy and satisfied being friends forever. The bond we share is so unique and different that words can’t describe and no one other than us can feel and make sense of it. We have gone through a lot in our lives but still, we always stood by each other, through thick and thin.

Isn’t it beautiful? Two people who didn't even know each other once, now pray for each other’s happiness even before their own.
